Alrighty then! I've discovered a program by Microsoft that's actually USEFUL! It's called "Windows Live Writer" and it's an editor software that lets me post to multiple blogs. This is great because I've just recently started to use livejournal and I felt guilty about starting a new blog/journal while my blogger was sitting lonely and un-updated. Livejournal is very attractive because it's easy to update, and the friends page makes it easy to both keep track of journals and communities you're interested in and get comments. And really, comments are what make blogging the most fun. If your livejournal is on someone's friends page you're likely to get someone commenting on your post because they know immediately about it.
However, I get a lot of comments from people at cons who visit my website and ask why my blog never gets updated (or rather... why many things don't get updated). I've been so busy traveling and working for so long, that I just haven't been able to keep up with my updates. This especially carries over to my blog. Usually it's because I honestly just don't think about it. I'm continually surprised that people actually want to hear about me or my opinions.
But I've also realized something about myself... I'm just not a blog-about-my-life type person. My day to day live is extremely boring. I get up, I go to work, I come home and read some manga or books, stay up to late surfing the web and then go to bed. (Interspersed with writing on my fanfictions, making buttons, and crafts of various sorts.) I also go to cons, usually as an artist in their artist alley, which involves lots of sleepless nights of preparation and then 3 days of no sleep and lots of fun, and hopefully some money making. That's worth blogging about, but usually I'm too tired to do so and then late after the fact it doesn't seem to be worth it.
I think if I'm ever going to get into the habit of blogging I have to pick a regular time to do it and just talk about the things I'm interested in. Things that aren't time sensitive. Because most days I think "today wasn't worth talking about" and for the days that are... by the time I have to blog... it's not worth talking about anymore. At least, that's the way it feels.
So! How to solve it? Well, I've seen a couple of blogs where it's "something" per day. Painting per day, Movie per Day, Puzzle per day... So I think I'm going to try that. Then the question was what could I possibly talk about every day? Ummm... maybe this.
Yes, manga. Can I read a manga-a-day? I think so. Manga is designed to be absorbed quickly. One of the biggest complaints I hear about manga is that it costs "so much" but you're done with it so fast. The big question is... can I write about manga everyday? Even if I just use the manga I have currently I have enough to talk about for 4 years. This will also help all those times people ask, "so what do you recommend?"
I don't think manga is the only thing I'll ever talk about, but I think it's a good starting point.
So which manga to start with? Well, duh, this is me we're talking about. It's got to be Fruits Basket vol 17! So tune in tomorrow for my thoughts on the lastest English release of Furuba!
